TOMORROW’S MATERIALS. TODAY’S APPLICATIONS.
GS Engineering takes pride in the ability to develop lightweight solutions for customers in various markets. Our team begins the process with a cost target and will use simulation tools such as CAD and finite element analysis to develop a number of potential solutions very quickly. At the same time, GS Engineering's metallurgical engineers are providing material properties that correspond to the most applicable manufacturing processes. The first deliverable to the customer is a matrix of solutions that compare manufacturing methods – such as composit layups, extrusions, castings, forgings, or fabrications- and production volumes, timelines, and cost. Once a design is selected, GS Engineering can develop the prototype, integrate for end use, and perform a variety of instrumented field tests to ensure that the lightweight design meets your expectations.
GS Engineering has proven success in the development of an aluminum metal matrix composite (MMC) reinforced brake drum that is 45% lighter than the standard iron drum. In this effort, our engineers were responsible for the design, analysis, ceramic material development, material selection, consultation on casting, heat treat, machining, dynamometer testing, and the material testing and analysis. GS Engineering teams with companies that bring passion and innovation in the respective areas of need, especially in ceramic processing technology and metal casting. In addition to weight reduction programs, GS Engineering assists customers with application engineering in the areas of ballistic materials, new casting alloys, wear resistant coatings, and ceramic processing technology development.
